Stygian Onslaught

Stygian Onslaught is the best thing that ever happened to Genshin: the moment the game grew up. And this is a living database of real D5 and D6 clears — actual teams, actual decisions, not theory

Stygian Onslaught is the stage where an account finally shows what it's truly worth.

Every D5 and D6 clear is worth its weight in gold. Even if the timing isn't perfect.

Someone will see your team, catch the idea, tune it to their account — and clear it too.

This isn't flexing. It's a shared database of honest clears — our contribution to the game.

Come on, don't be shy — share your clear! And of course I'll be giving you a standing ovation ❤️

Frequently asked questions

FAQ
What is the Stygian Onslaught section for?

The Stygian Onslaught section is a community database of real clears. It helps players compare teams, bosses, difficulties, clear times and ideas for their own runs.

What is Stygian Onslaught in Genshin Impact?

Stygian Onslaught is a permanent boss-rush mode in Liyue and the hardest content in the game. A single run pits you against three bosses, each needing its own team. It was added in version 5.7.

How many difficulty levels does Stygian Onslaught have?

Six, from level 1 (Normal) to level 6 (Dire). From level 4 each boss has a 120-second limit and no character may be reused. Level 6 is the hardest challenge in the game.

How do I select and raise the difficulty?

You pick a difficulty before the battle, but each level unlocks only after you clear the one below, and level 6 requires clearing level 5 solo. So you raise the difficulty step by step.

How do I unlock Stygian Onslaught, and at what Adventure Rank?

It unlocks in Liyue once you reach the required Adventure Rank and finish the related story quest. After that the mode is permanently available — it is not a limited-time event.

When does Stygian Onslaught reset, and how often?

Every version — a new season starts about a week after the patch. Bosses rotate roughly every six weeks and rewards can be claimed again. Current season dates are shown on this page.

Can Stygian Onslaught be played in co-op?

Yes, levels 1–4 can be cleared in co-op. However, the rewards for levels 5 and 6 only count in single-player.

What are the rewards for Stygian Onslaught?

All primogems are handed out by level 3. Beyond that come progression rewards: artifact materials at levels 4 and 5, and a unique weapon skin plus a leaderboard spot among the Exalted Ones at level 6. The Exalted Ones — a rotating set of featured characters each season — also gain a 20% boost to HP, ATK and DEF. Early in the season you can also spend resin to farm artifacts in the mode.

How long does a Stygian Onslaught season last?

About one version — a few weeks. In battle the timer varies: 10 minutes per boss on the lower levels, and just 120 seconds from level 4 up.

How much HP do Stygian Onslaught bosses have?

It depends on the boss and difficulty — on higher levels boss HP runs into tens of millions. Exact figures for each boss this season are listed in the cards on this page.

What is the hardest challenge in Genshin Impact?

The hardest challenge in the game is level 6 of Stygian Onslaught. It is tougher than the Spiral Abyss or the Theater: 120 seconds per boss, no character reuse, and amped-up enemy mechanics.

Which teams and characters do I need for Stygian Onslaught?

Three independent teams plus the right tools for each boss: grouping, shield-break, and burst damage in a tight window. Strong DPS like Skirk and Arlecchino mix with supports and sub-DPS such as Furina, Baizhu, Xingqiu and Xiangling. See the clears above for concrete working teams.

Can I clear Stygian Onslaught on skill alone, without heavy investment?

Yes. Sharp play, precise rotations and reactions matter: there are level-6 clears at C0R1 and even without signature weapons. Skill counts as much as investment here.

Why share your Stygian Onslaught clear?

One real clear beats a dozen guides: it shows the team, the builds and the timing against a specific boss. Every D5 or D6 clear can help another player, even if the clear time is not perfect — the team itself can give someone an idea, a direction or confidence to try again.

How is Stygian Onslaught different from the Spiral Abyss?

The Abyss and the Theater test roster breadth, while Stygian Onslaught tests depth: three 120-second fights, no character reuse, and bosses built around specific mechanics. It is the most demanding mode in Genshin Impact, and clearing it on high difficulties is harder than the Abyss.

How do I prepare for Stygian Onslaught?

Build three independent teams and finish your key characters — talents, weapons, artifacts. On high difficulties skill matters too: rotations, reactions and reading what each boss wants. Studying other players' clears helps a lot.

How do I read the clears table?

Each card is a real clear of a specific boss: difficulty level, team composition, character builds and time. It is not theory but a practical guide — you see which teams and decisions work and adapt them to your account.

Are both D5 and D6 clears useful?

Yes. D6 clears are valuable, but D5 clears are also important because many players are still looking for realistic teams that can help them progress step by step.

Does clear time matter?

Clear time is useful for comparison, but it is not the only value of a submitted team. A slower clear can still be helpful if it shows a stable or accessible approach.

How should I use submitted teams?

Use teams as references, not strict recipes. Look at the boss, difficulty, characters, clear time and investment level, then adapt the idea to your own account.

How many Stygian clears are already shared?

Players have already shared 64 approved Stygian clears.

Are there any D6 clears?

There are already 20 approved D6 clears in the database.

What do D5 and D6 mean?

D5 and D6 are difficulty levels 5 and 6 of Stygian Onslaught — its real endgame. They run on a 120-second timer with no character reuse, and rewards (including the level-6 weapon skin) are single-player only. These D5 and D6 clears are exactly what we collect.

Does Stygian Onslaught need three teams?

Yes. From Menacing difficulty and above you cannot reuse a character across the three battles, so three independent teams are required. On Hard or lower difficulty you may reuse characters, so one or two strong teams can be enough.

How do I unlock Co-Op Mode, and can co-op clear Stygian Onslaught?

Co-Op Mode unlocks at Adventure Rank 16, after the Archon Quest that gates multiplayer. In Stygian Onslaught you can invite teammates and use co op mode on difficulties 1 through 3; difficulties 4 and up, including all higher difficulty rewards, are single player mode only.

Will Stygian Onslaught be permanent?

Yes. Stygian Onslaught is permanent content, not a limited Stygian Onslaught event — it refreshes every version with new bosses, but the mode itself stays available.

How many Primogems do you get from Stygian Onslaught?

All of the Primogem challenge rewards are earned by Hard difficulty; higher tiers give Dust of Enlightenment and weapon skins instead. The exact Primogem total per season is shown in-game when you claim rewards.

Is it better to farm artifacts in Stygian Onslaught?

It is a strong option. During the Disturbance Outbreak you spend Resin to earn Dire Prestige and roll artifacts from a domain you choose; every 120 Dire Prestige grants an extra artifact. For players who already clear higher difficulty, it is one of the best artifact sources in the game.

Why can't I beat Stygian Onslaught, and how do I clear Menacing difficulty?

Usually it is one of three things: your three teams overlap on key characters (banned from Menacing difficulty up), your builds or talents are under-levelled, or you are ignoring a boss mechanic. To clear Menacing or higher difficulty, build three independent teams, bring the tool each boss wants, and learn its mechanics from the clears below.

How many times does Stygian Onslaught reset?

Stygian Onslaught resets once per version — a new season with new bosses begins about a week after each patch, roughly every six weeks.

Stygian Onslaught guide

Stygian Onslaught: where Genshin finally got demanding

This is not just a mode with bosses and a timer. Genshin Impact Stygian Onslaught is the first combat mode that truly tests an account as a whole: not one favorite carry, not one strong support, but your entire roster, your builds, your rotations and your grasp of the mechanics.

The core idea: one real D5 or D6 clear is often more useful than a dozen theory guides. It shows not just the team, but the working solution: how the player answered the boss mechanics, how they fit the timer and where they found the extra damage.

Why Stygian Onslaught changed the endgame

The Spiral Abyss stopped being a universal measure of account strength a long time ago. At some point people were clearing all 36 stars with odd teams built purely for the challenge — which said less about the mode's depth than about experienced players no longer having a real test.

Stygian Onslaught brought that test back. Here it is not only the numbers in your stats that matter, but how the account is built: whether you have three independent teams, enough elemental energy, rotations that survive the timer and a concrete answer to each boss.

A mode that tests the whole account, not the showcase

In Stygian Onslaught you cannot hide behind a single all-purpose team. Each boss demands its own solution, and the restrictions force you to spread your strength across the whole roster.

The timer punishes slow rotations

On high difficulties you have just 120 seconds per boss. If a team ramps up slowly, runs low on elemental energy or loses tempo between damage windows, the result shows it immediately.

Character locks break your plan

One strong support can no longer paper over every problem. You have to decide in advance where Furina is needed most, who gets your best healer, which team gets the strongest buffs and who has to manage without them.

Mechanics over “just damage”

One boss needs fast target control, another the right element, a third discipline inside a short vulnerability window. A strong team with no answer to the mechanic often looks worse than a humbler but correctly built one.

That is why “I have Furina” and “I have a team where Furina actually works” are two different things. Stygian Onslaught makes that difference visible.

Difficulty that finally means something

The most interesting thing about Stygian Onslaught is that it raises the bar with more than just boss HP. The mode makes you think about resource allocation, tool selection and the cost of every mistake inside a short fight.

Tier lists stop being a ready-made answer here. A different question matters more: what your account can actually do under the timer and without reusing key characters.

Why real clears beat theory

A real D5 or D6 clear shows what a dry guide cannot: not just “who to bring”, but why that exact team worked against a specific boss.

  • 1. You can see which mechanic the player treated as the main threat.
  • 2. You can see the tool they chose: control, shield-break, elemental reactions, a burst window or steady damage.
  • 3. You can see how robust the solution is: a clean time buffer, or a clear right on the edge.

That is exactly why a clears database is valuable: it gathers not theory, but solutions that already worked.

How Stygian Onslaught works

Stygian Onslaught is Genshin Impact's permanent endgame, built as a boss rush. Combat begins without a comfortable reserve of full energy, so the very first rotation tests not only your damage but how well a team can start itself up.

A single run is three bosses. On higher difficulty, that means three separate teams, not one core stretched across the whole mode. Co op mode can help on some lower difficulties, but the top goal still comes down to single player mode, the timer and the account's ability to close all three fights without reusing characters.

Early on, Stygian Onslaught gives you more time per fight. On the real endgame levels, the pace spikes: you do not just have to beat a powerful opponent, you have to do it fast, cleanly and with a team built around the right boss mechanics.

The six difficulties

The mode runs across six difficulties — Normal, Advancing, Hard, Menacing, Fearless and Dire. On normal or higher difficulty up to Hard, you have room to test a team idea and learn the basic rules. From menacing or higher difficulty, the real wall appears: the timer tightens, characters cannot be reused, and three independent teams become the baseline.

D5 (Fearless) — a readiness check

On fearless difficulty, the account already has to show three working answers for three different bosses. D5 is often the first level where weak roster depth, low energy generation and messy rotations become visible with no excuses.

D6 (Dire) — a margin check

Dire difficulty asks you not only to solve the mechanic, but to do it with tempo to spare. Completing Dire difficulty is where details decide the run: energy, burst CDs, damage windows, rotation order and build quality.

Rewards, Dire Prestige and the Exalted Ones

Challenge rewards in Stygian Onslaught are built so the mode is not only about Primogems. The gems are claimed on the earlier levels, while higher up come rewards that matter for account growth: Dust of Enlightenment for artifacts, special Dire rewards, weapon skins and a spot among the Exalted Ones.

There is a separate farming layer too. During the first days of a season, the Disturbance Outbreak is active: you can spend Resin, bank Dire Prestige and earn extra artifacts from a domain you choose. Every 120 Dire Prestige grants an additional 5-star artifact, so players who already clear the mode confidently can farm artifacts here instead of treating Stygian Onslaught as a one-off challenge.

The exact Primogem total is shown in-game when you claim rewards. The important point is that Stygian Onslaught rewards progress in layers: first clear rewards, then Dire Prestige farming, then the prestige of Dire difficulty itself.

The Exalted Ones are the season's featured characters, boosted inside the mode. Using them is not cheating — it is simply playing by that season's rules. One caveat: on Dire difficulty, the Exalted buff no longer applies.

How to break down Stygian Onslaught bosses

The bosses change from version to version, but the prep logic stays the same: first understand the problem the fight poses, and only then pick a team. Usually it is not the most expensive lineup that wins, but the one that answers the boss mechanics faster and cleaner.

The boss checks your elements

Some fights use elemental monitoring: if you lean on one element for too long, the boss starts punishing that plan. A better answer is to rotate through different elements, keep elemental reactions active, and make sure each party member's elemental skill contributes instead of stalling the run.

The boss pressures you with extra targets

When enemy summons or smaller targets appear, damage on the main boss is not enough. You need control, fast add-clear, or massive AoE damage that does not break your main rotation. A team that handles adds cleanly often performs better than a stronger team that loses tempo.

The boss opens a short window

A shield phase, barrier, charging attack or vulnerability window calls for patience. Sometimes the best move is to hold your burst until the boss actually takes damage, especially if the current active character would otherwise waste key cooldowns into high elemental and physical res.

This is also why raw Physical DMG is rarely enough by itself. Good Elemental Mastery, steady energy and clean elemental reactions usually matter more than forcing one damage type into a fight that resists it.

How to read clears in the database

Do not treat a posted team as a strict recipe. It is more important to get the idea: why these characters ended up together, what role each slot fills and where the team's main source of stability lies.

Compare the boss, difficulty, time, constellations, weapons and overall investment. A fast clear with an expensive lineup shows the ceiling, while a slower but accessible clear may be more useful for a real account.

Recurring solutions are especially valuable. If different players arrive at a similar team or role, it is not a coincidence — it is a stable answer to the boss's mechanic.

How to use the clears database

  • 1. Start from the boss and difficulty, not just your favorite character.
  • 2. Look at the clear time: a timer buffer often matters more than the win itself.
  • 3. Check the investment: constellations, weapons, roles and overall account level.
  • 4. Use a team as an idea, not a recipe to copy one-to-one.
  • 5. Share your own clear, even if it is not perfect: a stable solution can help another player.

Why save real clears

For a long time, Genshin Impact was a game where a strong account often went without a real test. Stygian Onslaught gave that test. And the clears on this page show not an abstract “meta”, but players' living experience: which teams survived the timer, which decisions worked and where an account truly grew.
